The lotus is a different animal.  They will grow here with ease if you know what your doing.  I'm half way there - I hope.  I have grown the pygmy form of Momo Butan for 6 years and this year in February 2006 I divided it into 4 plants 3 are blooming and the 4th was given to a friend.  In March 2006 I was given 3 more plants, the large form of Momo Butan, a seedling of Mrs Perry Slocum, and Bali Red.  All are growing like gang busters with both Momo Butans, and Mrs Perry Slocum in full bloom.  They all have the same double flowers and dark pink petals but the flower sizes are very different.  The last to flower was Bali Red, the most beautiful of the group.

In late February 2008 the Lotus started to grow and I started to add plant tabs (fertilizer).  The plants were vigorous until a mid March cold spell stopped their growth.  I lost a few plants and crippled some, but a few were perfect.  The strongest was the Bali Red seedling.  I have been told to not fertilize until April.
