C. skinneri

Cattleya skinneri was one of the first orchids that I grew.  In all of those years I never saw one that had a virus.  That is until 1994 or 1995  Three of my mature pots of skinneri 'Hettie Jacobs' FCC/AOS showed color break.  They were quarantined to make sure that if was a virus they would not infect the other orchids.  The second year they were sent to the state, and the report was they had a very aggressive virus.  The state burned them.  I had one plant that was clean, and is still clean.  The four plants came from a plant in a 2 inch pot that cost $75.  This was from the original cloning.  Some later plants are from an inferior cloning.  When cloning is done too quickly it may have genetic changes,
