Brownea
Our Brownea tree is 35 years old.  It was damaged by the storms Andrew and Katrina, but it is still probably
the largest of its kind in a private garden.  Pinecrest Gardens(in Pinecrest, Florida) has a large collection of
different Brownea species.  It blooms on the main trunk as well as small twigs.  I consider it's flower to be the
most beautiful flower produced by any tree.  I have seen Amherstia nobilis in bloom and I still prefer the Brownea.

The bud pops right out of the trunk
